Norman Arts Council set for monthly 2nd Friday Circuit of Art

The Norman Arts Council (NAC) is holding their monthly 2nd Friday Circuit of Art on Friday, Feb. 8 around Norman. This massive art exhibition is a city-wide event that features work done by local artists that you may know.  The main attraction this month features Peruvian photography particularly horses, and even includes a presentation with Peruvian artists Sandra Cannock GraƱa and Alejandra Iturrizaga.

The 2nd Friday Circuit of Art features new exhibits every month. The work comes mostly from local artist and is a good way for less well-known artists to display their creations. The event is free of charge and is a great opportunity for the people of Norman to enjoy great art with people from their community. There is even a Kid’s Corner with fun activities for children.

This event has been successful in Norman, and Josh Boydston of the NAC thinks that it should continue to grow with each month. The 2nd Friday Circuit of Art has been going on for every single month for long enough that the NAC isn’t even sure, “It’s been at least 5 years though,” Boydston says. It can be hard to determine how many people show up each month because the event is spread out, however Boydston estimates at least 800 people usually show up to the opening ceremony.

The Firehouse Art Center will be open for the 2nd Friday Circuit of Art and will exhibit work done by local elementary school children. This event is in its final phase and February will be the last month it takes place. “This has been a good event … It’s always cool to see what the kids can come up with,” Boydston says.

There is no need to purchase tickets for the 2nd Friday Circuit of Art for any of the locations, entry is free. If you do not wish to drive yourself to each location, Cleveland Area Rapid Transit (CART) will take you to your next location for $.50 a ride, or $2 for the whole evening.
